SUVAT is committed to transparency. You may request information held by SUVAT by contacting us. We will respond to reasonable requests for information about our work, subject to applicable privacy and confidentiality considerations.

Making a request

Any person may request information held by SUVAT. Please describe the information you are seeking and provide your name and contact details.

You do not need to give a reason for requesting the information.

Response timelines

SUVAT aims to respond to information requests promptly and in any event within 20 working days of receipt. In exceptional circumstances, this deadline may be extended. You will be notified if an extension is necessary.

Information we may not be able to share

Given the nature of SUVAT's work, there may be circumstances where we are unable to share certain information. These include:

  • Ongoing research — information relating to analysis that is not yet complete or published.
  • Privacy — personal data relating to individuals, in accordance with data protection legislation.
  • Confidentiality — information shared with SUVAT in confidence by reporters or research partners.
  • Commercial sensitivity — information that could prejudice the commercial interests of any person.

Where we are unable to share information, we will explain the reason.

Fees

SUVAT does not charge a fee for responding to most information requests. However, where the estimated effort to comply is disproportionate, SUVAT may decline the request or offer to provide the information subject to a reasonable fee.

Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with our response to your request, please contact us to request a review. Reviews are conducted by a senior member of staff who was not involved in the original decision.
